Despite being the largest grant allocated to any group in Co. Offaly, the grant only represents c.50% of the project costs associated with the Astro Facility. When er complete our Carrick Esker pitches in the Spring we will be putting our renewed energies into making up the gap to get started with this badly need all weather & floodlight facility.

Our meticulous planning in recent years, our strategies and sound financial management have positioned us to capitalise on this and other grant funding. Many congratulations to those club members that assisted with the application. In addition we must thank the Principals and management of our local schools for their on-going support. This facility, like all of our facilities are open free of charge at all times to our schools.
Many thanks to our National and Local Representatives that have taken an interest in our Project and supported us along the way. We are delighted to have Marcella Corcoran Kennedy T.D, Carol Nolan T.D & Barry Cowen T.D. with us last April when we launched our plans. All of our local representatives are supportive of our overall vision but in particular Noel Cribbin, as an active member, has taken an especially keen interest.
Following the submission of a very detailed and valid application, we have secured €102,000 of that funding towards the next phase of our development.
Today is a good news day and another step in the long journey to deliver a top class sports campus for the local community. Shane Ross T.D., Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, and Brendan Griffin T.D. Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, today announced €56m in allocations under the 2017 round of the Sports Capital Programme (SCP) to over 1,700 different sporting projects.
