Club Plan 2024 - 2030

Club Planning Process 2024

In 2023 the Club Executive approved the formation of a Steering Group consisting of experienced club members to advance the preparation of a new club plan that will guide the development of the club toward 2030.  The unprecedented but welcomed growth of the club in recent times requires an overhaul of the structures of the club governance model.  A core pillar of the new plan will demands a new system of governance for the club to drive change an improvements across all codes and activities of the club.

Early in 2024, the Steering Group will embark on a major consultation process involving the membership and wider community of Edenderry.  This will take the form of an On-line Survey and also an extensive Club Planning Workshop.

The Steering Group will be following a proven methodology developed by the GAA for the preparation of Club Development Plans.  It is a very inclusive process that aims to place the ownership of the plan among the membership of the club.  Broadening the ownership of the plan beyond the Club Executive is key for the progressive development of the club and will facilitate its continued expansion and success as we move towards 2030.

Why Prepare a Plan

As a rapidly growing club serving the community of Edenderry, our club has always planned for the future.  The successful delivery of Club Development Plans prepared in 2010 and 2017 have served the club very well and as we enter 2024, the club is embarking on a fresh process to prepare a plan that will serve the club toward the next decade.

With the increasingly popularity of all Gaelic Games in Edenderry, it is critically important that we plan appropriately to ensure we are well positioned to provide the best possible participation experience to all our existing and future members.

As a progressive club, we are well advanced in the development of our One Club Model, whereby we have successfully incorporated the GAA, Ladies Football and Camogie Clubs into one organisation.  The transition to ‘One Club’ has rapidly enlarged our organisation and brought many challenges. However, we believe, the preparation of an inclusive Club Plan for the future, provides an opportunity to successfully deal with the challenges and also strengthen the vibrancy of Gaelic Games in our Community.

Furthermore, our community continues to change and evolve.  The results from the 2022 census indicate that the population of our catchment area will reach 10,000 very soon.  It is important that we are aware of this growth to ensure that we are prepared to recruit and welcome new members into our club.

It is worth highlighting that 25% of the local population is under 25 years of age.  In addition, there is a significant cohort of people that were born outside of Ireland.  As a result 2,148 people speak languages other than Irish & English.
