St Patrick's 3-10
Gracefield 1-11
Edenderry secured a place in the semi-final of the under 21 championship on Friday night last under lights in Portarlington. Playing against a resolute home team in Gracefield, Edenderry worked hard from the very first whistle and took the game to their hosts, racing into a 1-9 to 0-1 half time lead.
In the second half, Gracefield as expected staged a fightback and closed the gap in the scoreline. However, the Edenderry players showed composure to weather this storm and raced up the field to eventually put the game out of reach.
A lot of younger players were making their debut at this level and showed great example to their older teammates with their willingness to work hard for the team. Greater challenges await and this work ethic and attitude will stand them in good stead in order to meet this challenge.
