Offaly U16 Football Championship Round 3
Edenderry 2-19
Shamrocks 1-06
A powerful display by the U16’s in their final group game dismissed the Shamrocks challenge with easy and laid to rest the ghosts from the St. Vincent’s game the previous week when the shooting boots were left at home.
An exhibition in team play and scoring was on show for all present at a well-prepared Edenderry GAA grounds on Monday last. With Oisin O’Grady in goals and a solid back-line most attacks from Shamrocks were easily foiled and used as a platform to launch counter-attacks. David Maloney & Lee Hyland were dominant at midfield and the forwards led by Stevie Osborne, Peter Mac & Jordan Farrell were excellent throughout. With players of the calibre of Jordan Farrell to return this team will have a say yet.
The Reds finished strong and won out on a score line of 2-19 to 1-06. This secures the Reds second place in the group and lines up a ‘Home’ Quarter Final against the second place team from Group 3.
