Offaly U16 Football Championship Round 2
St. Vincent’s 1-08
Edenderry 0-09
This is a game Edenderry will feel they should have won following a very committed display in Daingean on Monday last. This team continue to work very hard but never seem to get the breaks. They hit the post on two occasions during the game and conceded a goal in controversial circumstances when goalkeeper Oisin O’Grady was challenged but did not receive a free despite the Vincent’s man being booked.
David Maloney and Jordan Hayes played very well for the Reds and created the platform for their second half comeback. However, despite their best efforts the whistle came too quickly for the Reds and they lost out. Redemption comes in the form of the final group game next Monday in Edenderry when they take on Shamrocks. A win will guarantee a place in the Quarter Finals of the ‘A’ Championship.
Scorers on the night were Jordan Hayes (0-03), L.ee Hyland (0-02), Conor Farrell (0-02) & Stevie Osborne , Peter McNamara (0-01).
The other game in the group resulted in a win for Rhode over Shamrocks. This means Vincents are out in front on 4pts with Edenderry & Rhode level on 2pts. Best of luck next week lads.
