U16 Champiobship:
Edenderry 3-12 1-9 Na Fianna................................................................
Edenderry U16's recorded a nine point victory over Na Fianna on Monday night but it should have been much more comfortable win. The reds were guilty of falling asleep in the final seven minutes and Na Fianna hit 1-6 to Edenderry's 0-1.
Edenderry dominated the first half but it was Na Fianna who opened the scoring after two minutes. Luckily for the reds that was Na Fianna's only score of the first half.
Jordan Hayes leveled matters in the fourth minute and points from Alex Kenny(3), Stevie Osborne and Adam Mahon gave Edenderry a 0-6 0-1 lead after twenty minutes.
In the twenty fifth a goal from centre back Jordan Farrell extended the lead to eight points and a late score from Ciaran Farrell rounded off an impressive first half for Edenderry.
Half time:
Edenderry 1-7 0-1 Na Fianna.
Edenderry picked up where they had left off and just two minutes into the second half Alex Kenny rattled the net after some good build up play from Jordan Farrell and Jordan Hayes. Kenny added two points in the seventh and eleventh minute, either side of Na Fianna's second point.
In the thirteenth minute a quick free from Alex Kenny to Jamie O'Connor led to an Edenderry shot but it was well saved but as Na Fianna tried to clear their lines, midfielder David Moloney snatched the ball and shot it to the back of the net.
Na Fianna pointed their third of the game in the sixteenth minute but points from Alex Kenny and Ciaran Farrell had Edenderry in a very comfortable seventeen point lead.
It was now that Na Fianna took complete control of the game with Edenderry only scoring once more through midfielder David Moloney. Na Fianna got their goal in the twenty eight minute to narrow the margin to nine and while it was still a great win for the reds, they can't afford to be complacent in future games.
