LADIES U16 FOOTBALL - S/F
Edenderry 10-12
St. Rynagh’s 2-04
Edenderry Ladies had a tremendous win against their old rivals St. Rynaghs in the semi-final of the U16 ladies championship on Sunday last. The young Reds put up a fantastic performance taking a while to get into the game but when they did, there was no holding them back.
During the course of the first half the girls constantly ran at St. Rynaghs and really tested their defence. When the whistle was blown at half time, Edenderry had 4-04 on the board and managed to keep St. Rynaghs scoreless.
After some serious talking from both teams managers, St. Rynaghs came out fighting but Edenderry were well prepared and managed to keep on top for the remainder of the game. It would be hard to single out any of the Edenderry girls because this truly was a team affair. However a tremendous performance from Orla Whelan and some amazing goals scored by Roisin Hurley are certainly worthy of mention. The St. Rynaghs girls did not give up however, they kept their heads up and managed to score 2-4 in the second half and played in a sporting manner throughout. The final score was 10-12 to 2-4. Edenderry now go through to the U16 County Final on the 21st of September, with Venue & Time TBC. Congratulations to both teams on such an entertaining match and the very best of luck to Edenderry in the final!
