The U14 footballers travelled to Mountbellew on Friday where they represented Offaly in the John West National Feile competition, only the third Edenderry team to ever do so following similar successes in 1993 and 2006.
Games v Claremorris and Seneschalstown were played on Friday with the reds desperately unlucky against the Mayo champions in their opening game. They suffered a defeat in their second game versus the Meath outfit too but bounced back Saturday morning by beating the hosts Mountbellew-Moylough before advancing to the Connaught GAA centre for the shield quarter final.
Having overcome Ballinasloe by 10-11 to 1-4, Edenderry faced Naomh Pól CLG of Belfast in the semi final on Sunday morning but were narrowly defeated 1-5 to 1-4.
A huge thanks is expressed to all the players and management, sponsors, parents and club committee members who helped organise a fantastic weekend and an experience the kids will never forget.
