U12 Girls S/F win

Ladies Under 12 Match Report -

The Edenderry ladies Under 12 team have reached the 2014 county final after a hard earned but deserved semi final win against current champions Naomh Ciaran on Monday in Cappincur.

Despite starting as underdogs Edenderry showed their intent from the throw in and dominated the earlier exchanges but it was Naomh Ciaran who registered the first score of the game with a point from their talented county midfielder. However almost immediately Edenderry went on the attack and registered their first score, a goal by full forward Molly Furey following great work from Chloe Monaghan. A super individual point from Maria Doyle followed to stretch their lead but the opposition levelled the score with a goal just before half time, at 1-1 each. The girls fell further behind just after half time with another goal against them leaving it at 2-1 to 1-1 but from there on they took the game to their opponents and showed great endeavour and commitment to hold the opposition scoreless for the rest of the game whilst proceeding to produce excellent scores from their main scoring threats of Chloe Monaghan and Molly Furey who bagged 1-1 each to win on a scoreline of 3-4 to 2-1 to Edenderry.

On the day the goalkeeper Tara Dunne and the backline were superb in particular Alicia Kavanagh, Stephanie Williams and the little but big hearted Amy Dunne.

In midfield Sarah Lynch ran herself into the ground and nullified the threat of Naomh Ciaran’s main player and was ably assisted by Maria Doyle while upfront the central players of Chloe Monaghan and Molly Furey lead the way with all players playing their part superbly.

This was a huge victory for the girls earned by the hunger and determination shown by each and every player and the girls will approach the final in a confident manner (date and time to be decided) and we wish them the very best of luck.
