U10 FOOTBALL BLITZ IN EDENDERRY
Edenderry held their first home blitz of the year on Monday night last, Tullamore came with 3 teams, St Broughans had 2 and Edenderry had 3 teams.
The blitz got underway at 7 pm, each team got to play 3 X 20 min. games; as with the ethos of Go Games all kids got full participation in all games. Every one of the games were evenly matched and it could be seen from the kids and their parents it was a successful evening for all when it came to an end at 8.30 pm.
Over 90 kids got to play football in the blitz in Edenderry alone and with many more blitz on around the county with a bit of luck it will not be to long before we see our underage teams competing for honours in Croke Park. The standard of play from all teams was very impressive. Edenderry fielded 3 evenly matched teams. These teams are the first bunch of kids only have played with the Go Games ethos and have come up from the CUL REDZ. The benefit of this could be seen on Monday night. The range of skills on show from The Young Redz was a joy to behold. The working together when on the ball from support play to passing and when not in possession the tackling and marking was top class.
Some of the scores would not have been out of place in Croke Park on Sunday. Edenderry competed well in all games and came out on top in most. The Young Redz will be out again in 2 weeks in Edenderry, for all Reds supporters its one not to be missed.
Edenderry were missing a few players on the night but had the welcome return to action of dual player Marc Byrne after a bout of illness. All the lads were delighted to have Marc back in the team, also all the lads wish Leon McGrath a speedy recovery as well from his injury and look forward to have Leon back soon.
