U10 FOOTBALL – FESTIVAL OF FOOTBALL
On Saturday morning last Edenderry hosted a blitz involving St Vincent's ,Tullamore, Kilcormac Na Fianna and Edenderry. All teams had two teams and all played four 20 mins. a-side games, so in total there was 20 matches played, all of which were a great standard. Even the poor weather did not affect the enthusiasm of the children involved.
The morning got kicked off at 11am, all games started at the same time to ensure a smooth running of the event and finished at 1.15 pm . The kids from all clubs enjoyed some refreshments and went off home tried and happy after a great morning of football.
Edenderry had a huge turn-out of players again, despite it coming to the end of a long season. The Reds were the most represented club at the Blitz, of the 29 players that turned out for Edenderry there are 19 of them under-age for this grade next year which is a great sign for the future.
Both Edenderry teams preformed really well in all games, both teams worked hard for each other and took some great scores. This group can look forward to playing many games against these teams in years to come and will have a big future in the game which will included success when the time is right if they keep working hard on their skills as they are.
The players involved in team 1 Ben Whelan, Mark Whelan, Jim Bergin, Joe Bergin, Jake Connolly, Daniel Ó Connell, Ross Blong, Micheal Brady, Dean Mullally, Donal Harris, Mark Byrne, Sean Larkin, Tiernan Mc Glynn and Tom Bregin.
The Edenderry team 2 was Josh Reilly, Cathal Tyrell, Tadagh Mac Bride, Mark Forde, Cian Murphy, Aaron Murphy, Arnus, Dylan Byrne, Daragh Farrell, Sean Micheal, Stephen Davy and Thomas Ó Connell.
The Club would like to thank Pat Mac Bride of PMB Construction for sponsoring food in Supermacs after the blitz for all the kids, coaches and parents. It's fair to say it all went down well with the kids to finish off what was a great morning of football, thanks Pat.
Also a big thank you to Pat Cullen for having, not only the pitch in top order but the whole GAA grounds which was noted by all the visiting teams. It was commented on how well it looked and how good the dressing rooms and pitch were, well done Pat.
Finally a word of thanks to all visiting teams for coming over in the poor weather, if all clubs keep working hard with the players that were involved, in years to come many of these kids will play together for Offaly at all age groups as the skill enthusiasm for football was great to see.
