John Maughan reckons they are “on to something” in Offaly.
Offaly’s senior footballers put themselves into a Division 3 semi-final last Saturday by downing Munster champions Tipperary with five points to spare.
It was a third win on the bounce for the Faithful men and next up for Maughan’s charges is a date with Fermanagh in Tullamore where second tier status will be up for grabs.
Speaking to RTE Sport, Maughan says he’s excited about the direction Offaly are moving in as a county and is enjoying the project with the footballers immensely.
"Well, there were times against Tipp where I wasn’t so much," he joked. “But we’re on to something in the county.
“The Shane Lowry news the last few weeks, the hurlers, footballers, ladies’ footballers and camogie players - there is great positivity there. Two minor teams in Leinster finals. The spirit is good in the county."
