The club are delighted to announce that we have been successful in obtaining funding from the IPB Insurance Youth and Community Fund. There was over 2,000 applicants for funding for a wide range of activities and proposals, from working with the elderly, the environment and local community to increasing participation in sport.
We were successful in obtaining substantial funding in relation to participation in sport. Our proposals to continue the Coaching on the Green Initiative and enhance the CUL REDZ Nursery were instrumental in securing the funding. The benefits will accrue directly to the young boys and girls of the area and will allow us to encourage them to get involved in Gaelic Games. Edenderry GAA has been very pro-active over the past few years in monitoring the population growth in our area and working hard to improve participation levels.
A few facts that helped us in our application were that we highlighted that the 2011 census recorded that the population within our catchment area now stands at;
8117 persons - up 71% since 1996
37% of the 8117 persons are under 25 years of age
Represented by 1,523 Males and 1,510 Females.
13% of the population is non-national and therefore with no tradition in Gaelic Games.
The Funding achieved will allow us to implement exciting new elements to the Coaching on the Green and CUL REDZ. We hope the funding will allow us to continue and enhance the opportunities for people of all backgrounds and creeds to join the GAA.
Keep posted for announcements in the coming weeks on the programme from children for the 4-8 age group.
