Reigning All-Ireland champions St Mary's made it safely through the second round of the Leinster competition with a comfortable victory over Portmarnock CS.
The Dublin youngsters began the brighter, with captain Shane Carthy firing over from a tight angle. And after a long-range shot from Eoin Shiels found the back of the net, Portmarnock CS raced into a four-point lead.
However, St Mary's immediately responded and three goals in a 10-minute spell – from Peter Connolly, Oran Lawton and Daniel Pyke – gave the visitors a commanding lead.
St Mary's took a five-point lead into the second half and the result never looked in any doubt.
Portmarnock struggled to break through and could only add two points in the second period – one of which was a fine score by Shiels.
Sean Moriarity added a point from long range before substitute Glen Doran sealed the victory.
