Former Edenderry footballer and red roaring Dubs fan Sean Marshall has called on the GAA to make urgent changes after his native Dublin suffered two successive defeats to Monaghan in the National League.
The Dublin footballers, who are going for the elusive 'Five in a row' this year, are said to be very upset that Monaghan had the cheek to beat them two games in a row in the National League and Marshall has said the GAA needs to act NOW before Dublin suffers any more defeats.
"It's bleeding outrageous" the 2015 Dowling cup winner fumed. "Who do Monaghan think they are beating Dublin two years in a row. That's not supposed to happen and enough money has been pumped into Dublin GAA to prevent embarrassing situations like this" the former Edenderry 'General' stated.
The Ulster side have proven to be a torn in Dublin's side over the past number of years and speaking to our reporter on Monday morning Marshall declared the time has indeed come for Monaghan to be split in two.
"It's only bleeding fair for jasus sake" he said. "The GAA have to realise they have created a huge monster by encouraging small counties like Monaghan to try and take on the big boys. There's no money to be made by Monaghan doing well, the money needs to be pumped into bleeding Dublin for bleeding sake, jasus it's bleeding shocking carry on"!

Marshall (29) left Irish shores in 2016 for Australia but there has been constant speculation that the former Division One league winner is set to return to the Edenderry lineup for 2019.
"I can't comment on that at the moment but all I would say is that guys like Stephen Guing, Sean Pender and Keith McGuinness would want to have their act together by mid-March just in case 'The General' does reappear" Marshall joked.
Jordan Hayes echoed his former teammates views and said it's simply unfair on Dublin to lose two games in a row to Monaghan. Hayes stated "How on earth do the GAA think they'll promote football in the capital if Dublin lose two times in a row to Monaghan. It's pure mule. Simply ridiculous and something needs to be done about this IMMEDIATELY" Hayes raged.

While Marshall is resolute in his opinion that Monaghan needs to be split in two, current Edenderry footballers & first cousins Derek Kelly, Jack Guing & Alan Harte rejected the idea as "pure nonsense" before proceeding to dismiss any such notions that they were on the verge of declaring for Malachy O'Rourke's Ulster outfit. The trio qualify for the Farney county under the grandparent rule.
