Well folks the time is nearly upon us with less than a week to go to shinty/hurling being played on the hallow turf of EDENDERRY GAA on Saturday November22nd next.......
visiting our town and in EDENDERRY for the weekend are THE COMBINED SCOTTISH UNIVERSITIES TEAMS MENS & LADIES. Under the stewardship of team Principal Mr. George Hay, a man that has has everyone’s respect.
To highlight the event, the President of the Scottish CAMANACHD ASSOCIATION Mr. Archie Robertson will attend. He will oversee, along with officials from the club, the presentation of commemorative medals marking the games.
Also making the trip up to Edenderry are ROBBIE BERGIN'S OFFALY LADIES CAMOG'S who start proceedings with their game @12noon followed swiftly by the men @ 1.45pm.
It promises to be a fantastic opportunity young and old alike to see our Celtic brothers native stick game against our beautiful game of hurling to played in the best positive spirit and comradeship.
Even if GAA/GAELIC GAMES are not your thing, you have a wonderful chance to meet the teams afterwards and take the odd photograph if u so wish. The visitor's will no doubt be impressed with the wonderful facilities and hospitality from patrons of EDENDERRY GAA and the wider community as a whole.
So is left for me to say; with the few days left till the big day itself, is to come along to EDENDERRY GAA CLUB ON THE CARRICK ROAD and enjoy a CELTIC CELEBRATION like no other. Relax in a friendly and positive environment. To wish all those taking part to enjoy the occasion as these events don’t happen all too often....AND TO IMMENSE PRIDE IN THE FACT THAT OUR HURLERS WILL WALK OUT ON TO THE HALLOWED TURF OF EDENDERRY GAA WEARING THE EIRE KIT A HUGE HONOUR....................
To everyone many thanks and god bless
