Gracefield..........1-9
Edenderry..........4-17
Our senior footballers wrapped up their league campaign on Tuesday night with a seventeen point victory over Gracefield in Gracefield.
The first half was a tightly contested game with Edenderry just about doing enough to keep their noses in front. Corner back Andrew Forde opened the scoring after three minutes but within thirty seconds Gracefield scored a goal.
Three points from Alex Kenny had Edenderry trailing by one after thirteen minutes 0-4 1-2 and they soon edged in front after points from captain Colm Byrne and Alex Kenny. Two further scores from Kenny gave Edenderry a one point lead at the half time break, 0-8 1-4.
SECOND HALF
Edenderry produced a far better second half showing in particular in the opening ten minutes when they amassed 3-3 without reply, led from midfield by Richie Dalton who was immense. Richie kicked a point within sixty seconds of the restart and two minutes later captain Colm Byrne scored Edenderry's first goal of the game. Jamie Dolan produced a cool finish to the top corner a minute later before points from Stephen Guing and Aaron O'Connell gave the 'whites' a ten point advantage.
That soon turned to thirteen when half back Eoin Farrell scored Edenderry's third goal of the game. Three Gracefield scores were cancelled out by points from Ciaran Farrell, Mark Abbott (2) and Alex Kenny and a late penalty and two further points from Alex Kenny rounded off a comfortable seventeen point win.
