Senior league rd 4:
Edenderry..............2-7
Tullamore...............0-7
Edenderry senior footballers continued their unbeaten run when they recorded a six point victory over Tullamore on Sunday morning.
These two sides faced off in last years Division 1 league final when the reds ran out comfortable winners but this proved a much tighter affair that was only settled with a 54th minute penalty from Ciaran Hurley.
Tullamore took the lead after five minutes and doubled their advantage with eleven minutes played but a point from centre forward Ciaran Farrell in the twentieth minute and a goal from Ciaran Hurley one minute later put the reds in the driving seat. Edenderry were playing against a very strong wind and scores were proving hard to come by but both sides traded two points each, Edenderry's scores coming from Ciaran Hurley and Alex Kenny(free), to leave the half time scores reading 1-3 0-4.
Second half:
An Alex Kenny free put Edenderry three points clear but Tullamore replied almost immediately only for a Sean Moriarty '45 helped keep three points between the sides. Ciaran Hurley stretched Edenderry's lead to four points with eighteen minutes remaining but points in the forty seventh and forty ninth minute moved Tullamore to within two points.
Ciaran Farrell pointed with seven minutes remaining to put Edenderry a goal to the good and one minute later Ciaran Hurley converted a penalty kick after a foul on Richie Dalton.
Edenderry now have three wins and a draw from four games and their next league game is at home to Raheen on March 28th.
