Div 1 FL:
Edenderry 3-10 1-7 Tubber...............................................................
A massive thirteen point haul from corner forward Ciaran Hurley laid the foundations for a nine point win over Tubber on Friday night in Edenderry. The two points pushes the reds up to mid-table and will secure division one football for 2013.
There was a slow start to the game with both sides struggling for scores but it was Tubber who struck first after five minutes. Johnny Hurst leveled matters two minutes later and Ciaran Hurley gave the reds the lead in the ninth minute.
Tubber hit back in the eleventh minute but two more points from Ciaran Hurley stretched Edenderry's lead to two. In the twenty third and twenty fifth minute Tubber pointed and leveled the game but a goal four minutes from the half time whistle from Ciaran Hurley after some good play from Martin Keogh and Stuart Cullen gave the Edenderry a three point lead at half time.
Half Time:
Edenderry 1-4 0-4 Tubber
The introduction of Dean Cummins and Stephen Abbott at half time paid dividends within the opening two minutes as Dean went highest in the square and won a great ball, which he then laid off to Ciaran Hurley, who pointed to put four between the sides.
Just one minute later the game looked to be dead and buried when Ciaran Hurley side stepped the goalie and placed the ball into the back of the net to bring his personal tally to 2-4 with just three minutes gone in the second half.
Edenderry looked to be cruising but Tubber pointed in the fifth minute and a mistake from the kick-out allowed Tubber in for a goal and suddenly there was just three points between the sides.
To Edenderry's credit they hit back straight away and after some great play from Dan Nolan, Stuart Cullen pointed.
Four minutes later a great solo effort from center back Dan Moloney stretched the reds lead to five and further points from Dean Cummins and Stephen Guing put the Edenderry in a comfortable position.
In the twentieth minute a superb long distance point from Stephen Abbott gave the home side a 2-10 to 1-6 lead. Just one minute later a long ball into the square was caught by Dean Cummins who laid a quick slip pass of to the oncoming Ciaran Hurley who coolly slotted with his left foot past the keeper.
Tubber responded with a point in the twenty second minute and that would be the final score of the game as the reds ran out nine point winners.
