Edenderry 1-9 1-14 Clara
Edenderry senior footballers opened their league campaign with a five point loss to county finalists Clara. Despite a good start to the game in which they led by 1-1 to 0-2 after fifteen minute after scores from Sean Doyle, Edenderry faded for the remainder of the first half and Clara hit 1-5 without reply. Deep into injury time in the first half, Sean Doyle hit his second point of the game to leave five points between the sides.
Half time: Edenderry 1-2 1-7 Clara
Substitute Oran Lawton pointed for the reds after three minutes and a Sean Doyle point in the tenth minute left the scoreline at 1-4 to 1-10. Clara pulled further away with two points in the thirteenth minute but scores from Johnny Hurst and Sean Doyle(2) brought the sides closer and a fine score from wing back Sean Moriarty and a fantastic Stuart Cullen point after twenty one minutes left just three points in it.
The reds failed to add to their tally while Clara tagged on two late scores and ran out comfortable five point winners.
