Following a good victory last week against Carlow , Offaly Schools Under 14's faced a huge step up in class when they took on the legendary St. Kierans College of Kilkenny in Mount Bolus in near Baltic conditions today.
This game ebbed and flowed from start to finish with our 3 Edenderry representatives again giving a good account of themselves . Offaly were in this game right up until the end and were unable to break the strong St. Kierans goals , which was well marshalled by Conor Carey ( son of the legend DJ Carey ) .
Offaly now face St. Peters of Wexford next weekend in a must win game which on todays performance is a task which is not beyond them. Some fine performances by Conor Curran , Mike Ryan and Shane Langton kept Offaly well in touch. In the end St. Kierans ran out 1-08 to 0-05 points winners.
Thanks to Mount Bolus GAA for having the pitch in such excellent condition.
Best of Luch to Oisin , Shane and Eoin next week
