1927-2012
It is with deep saddness that the club learned of the passing of one of the great 'Reds' Paud Dillon. He was one of the hero's of the 1940's and 1950's and in recent years his son John Dillon was Club Chairman and heavily involved in Bord na nÓg.
Paud plyed in his first Co. Senior FInal in 1948 but lost to Tullamore however success soon followed in 1951 when Edenderry captured their second title by beating Durrow 0-12 to 1-08, with Paud starring at full back. The Reds were back in the final the following year only to lose to Durrow as they exacted revenge for the previous year. Paud and his colleagues did not give up and a third final in a row in '53 brought the 3rd title to the club with a fine win over Rhode with Paud again at full back.
Paud continued to play through the 50's and picked up another medal in '57, however he missed the final as his mother passed away on the morning of the match. Paud moved to Dublin and spent the remainder of his life there. He kept a great interest in the fortunes of the Reds and was at the 2011 final in October. Fitting that he was in the dressings rooms after the 2011 final - 60 years on from his first win.
