Peter Brady's return to the helm got off to a perfect start with a two point victory over Tullamore in the first round of the senior football championship.
Played in tough weather conditions the reds got off to a flying start with points courtesy of Cian Farrell, Ciaran Farrell and the returning Alex Kenny. With thirteen minutes played Tullamore's Pa Cosgrove kicked his sides first point of the game but just a minute later Cian Farrell put Edenderry 0-4 0-1 ahead.
Tullamore rallied with three unanswered points from Shane Kelly (2f) and Michael Brazil but the reds replied in similar fashion with debutant Conor McCarthy kicking his first point at senior football. Further points from Cian Farrell (2) gave the reds a 0-7 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first half but again Tullamore came straight back with two points of their own from Shane Kelly and Declan Hogan.
With the clocking ticking into injury time Tullamore attacked again but a superb block from Mark Abbott resulted in Edenderry turning over the ball and carrying it up the field. A pin point pass from Sean Doyle into Cian Farrell saw last years Offaly minor captain fire the ball into the bottom corner of Johnny McKeon's net.

Straight from the throw in Tullamore were awarded a penalty which Pa Cosgrove duly dispatched to the back of the net and four minutes later a Shane Kelly free from fourteen yards leveled the tie. An Alex Kenny point in the thirty fifth minute put the reds back in front and two frees from Sean Doyle gave Edenderry a three point cushion.
Shane Kelly kicked three more points for Tullamore as Alex Kenny struck two frees for Edenderry and the game ended 1-12 1-10.
Edenderry's next game is against Cappincur in Clonbullogue on Wednesday April 18th.
