LADIES U14 FOOTBALL
Edenderry U14 Ladies faced strong opposition in St. Broughans on Thursday evening 15th May at home in Edenderry GAA in round 2 of the Championship. Having suffered defeat to a very experienced and skilled Naomh Ciarán in round 1, the Edenderry girls were noticeably hungry for a win. St. Broughans got off to an early lead with two quick well taken points. Whilst it took a few minutes for the Edenderry girls to settle the hard work they have put in at training over the past few months started to pay off. In what proved to be a very physical encounter Edenderry Ladies came out on top on a 8-7 to 2-9 scoreline. The Edenderry girls gave a fantastic team performance with each player contributing to the win. The girls next face Clara U14 Ladies in round 3 of the Championship on Monday 19th May at home. We wish them the very best of luck going forward.

GIRLS U12 FOOTBALL
The ladies Under 12 team played their third and final group game in the 2014 championship campaign on Monday last against Shamrocks in Rahan. Despite missing their captain Rachel Kelleghan Edenderry dominated proceedings for the first quarter of the game but struggled to get scores on the board and eventually registered a goal from Chloe Monaghan and a Leah Callan point to take a healthy lead. Despite further attacks the young reds didn’t add to their score before halftime and with Shamrocks scoring a pointed free it left it close at half time on a 1-1 to 0-1 scoreline.
Edenderry came bursting out of the traps straight after half time with goals from Maria Doyle and an excellent solo effort from the talented Leah Callan to leave them comfortably ahead. However Shamrocks battled on and scored another goal and two points to keep it close but Edenderry finished strong with another great point from Aoife Tyrrell leaving a final score of 3-2 to 1-3 to Edenderry. This was another battling performance by these talented bunch of girls with everyone contributing and for the second year in a row they march on to a county semi final in 2 weeks time.

GIRLS U10 FOOTBALL
The Edenderry ladies Under 10 team began their 2014 season on Thursday last with an away game against local Kildare team Ballyna. The girls have shown great commitment in training since February and were delighted to put all their hard work and skills into practice in a match scenario.
We had 18 enthusiastic young girls and in keeping with the Go Games principle there was two games played alongside each other meaning everyone played in a 9 a side game. The girls acquitted themselves very well and everyone gave their all which was great to see especially as most were playing their first ever game of football. Well done to all the girls and to the very supportive parents and big thanks to Steve and the Ballyna crew for hosting.
