The panel of players for the game was as follows: Alicia Kavanagh, Aoife Tyrrell, Amy Lynch, Jenna Comerford, Shauna Comerford, Michelle Cullen, Kaitlyn Jones, Kelly Oglesby, Kiah Farrelly (capt), Leah, Callan, Keeryna Ruru, Maria Doyle, Ellie Maher, Amy Dunne, Katie Dunne, Sarah Lynch,Sophie Clancy, Stephanie Williams and Tara Dunne.
Feile Update
As part of our Feile Fundraising campaign our race night which was held in Byrne’s last Saturday night was a huge success with plenty of banter and enjoyment on the night. Thanks to all who attended and supported on the night, the proceeds will go a long way towards allaying our costs for our Feile Weekend. We would like to say a huge thanks to all who helped in any way to make sure the night was a success. To all our sponsors for their generosity and to Byrnes for hosting the event as well as our helpers and bet takers who worked diligently throughout the evening. Thanks also to Bernie Gorman and Willie Forde and the Club’s Feile committee for their hard work in preparing and organising the night. Our next fundraising takes place over the June bank holiday weekend with a bag collection in Dunnes on June 1st and 2nd and a night in Byrnes with Midnight Blue on the Sunday night June 3rd.
Cul Redz
The fabulous Cuz Redz is now back up and running again and we had our first football session on Saturday last May 12th. We had a great turnout of coaches and underage players to help out and with the good weather also a factor we had a great start to the season. The presence of the Edenderry boys from the secondary school all Ireland winners helped make the day a great success. The football session will be every Saturday morning from 10.30am to 12.00 noon whilst the hurling/camogie sessions will be every Thursday from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Reminder that the cost is just €10 for the season for each player.
County teams
The Offaly ladies Under 14 team played the final of the Leinster Championship on Sunday last in Portarlington against Westmeath. The girls played with the wind in the first half but despite a lot of possession they failed to build up the badly needed scores leaving an uphill battle for the second half and so it proved as Westmeath kicked on and ran out easy winners in the end by 3-10 to 4 points. The girls have had a wonderful year so despite losing the final they can be very proud of their efforts in 2012. Well done to the five Edenderry girls on the team Orla Whelan, Eimear Lawless, Sarah Cummins, Maeve Brereton and Nicole Farrelly and to Gabriel Gorman who was part of the management team.
