Edenderry Ladies Weekly GAA Notes
Match Updates
It was a quiet weekend on the playing field last weekend mainly to due county action. However our Under 10 girls team began their playing season on Saturday last in the Kildare Spring League with an away fixture against neighbours Ballyna. This was a chance for all the girls to display their skills on the field of play after training diligently since early January. The game was a great success and Edenderry showed great skill and determination and were more than a match for their opponents. Well done to the players and everyone involved and it was great to see so many parents there to cheer the girls on. The panel of players for the game was as follows: Alicia Kavanagh, Aoife Tyrrell, Ciara Conlan, Jenna Comerford, Shauna Comerford, Michelle Cullen, Kaitlyn Jones, Kelly Oglesby, Kiah Farrelly, Ellie Maher, Amy Dunne, Katie Dunne, Sophie Clancy and Stephanie Williams.
The girls play their second game in the Kildare Spring League this coming Saturday March 31st against Naas. Venue is still to be decided so all parents will be contacted during the week to confirm time and venue.
County teams
The Offaly ladies Under 14 and Under 16 teams continued their Leinster Championship campaigns last weekend. The Under 14 team easily beat Longford on a scoreline of 2-7 to 0-2. On the panel from Edenderry was Orla Whelan, Eimear Lawless, Sarah Cummins, Maeve Brereton and Nicole Farrelly whilst Muireann Lawton is also on the panel but missed this game. The Under 16 team beat Wicklow on a scoreline of 3-11 to 4-3 after a scintillating second half of football and Edenderry were represented by Ciara Brady, Ciara O’Connor and Rebecca Gorman with Shauna Farrelly and Danielle Kavanagh missing through injury. Well done to all the girls and to our own Gabriel Gorman who is part of the management team. Both team’s next games will be a double header against Kilkenny on Easter Thursday.
Fixtures
Our Under 14 girls were left disappointed last weekend with the cancellation of the Offaly ladies Under 14 Feile competition which was due to be played throughout the county. The girls will now commence their championship campaign next Saturday March 31st with an away game against Killeigh. Best of luck to the management teams and all the girls for 2012.
