Edenderry Ladies GAA teams have been busy over the last few weeks preparing for the 2013 season. Our under 12 team have already played two games in their championship group with one loss to Naomh Ciaran on a scoreline of 3-3 to 0-3 and drawing with Clara 2-1 to 2-1 so it is still all to play for in their group with their next game in the championship against hot favourites St. Rynaghs. Our under 14 team have already played in the Offaly Feile competition performing heroically and are due to kick off their championship this Tuesday April 16th against Tullamore. The girls warmed up for this with a very useful challenge against Naomh Molaoise on Tuesday last with the game finishing in a draw Edenderry 2-13 N. Molaoise 5-4 and we wish them all the best in 2013. Our under 16 team played Sarsfields of Kildare on Saturday last and after a great battle the game finished in a draw, showing the real potential of this team Our management teams of Vinny Whelehan and Maureen Whelan (Under 16s) and Ken Breen and Rhona Moran (under 14s) have been overseeing the training programme devised by club coaching co-ordinator Greg Farrelly for both teams and this is obviously reaping the benefits. The club would also like to thank Ballyfore man Mark O’Brien for his wonderful assistance recently with our training programme. We have large numbers playing at all levels showing the popularity of ladies football and we wish the management teams and players the very best for the coming season in their endeavours.
