Ladies Under 12 Championship
The ladies Under 12 team kicked off their championship against Rhode on Wednesday evening in Rhode. Edenderry have a huge pool of players at this level and we had a panel of 26 on the night all of whom played some active part in the game. After a great battle the girls eventually won the game on a scoreline of 2-3 to 6 points. The game was an even contest throughout with the goals for Edenderry separating these 2 great teams in the end. Well done to Fiona , Liz and all the girls and parents who turned up, very encouraging to see so many eager and enthusiastic young ladies at this level. The girls will play St. Vincents in their next game. Ladies Under 16 Championship
Our under 16 girls played the second game of their championship against Naomh Ciaran in Ferbane on Tuesday last April 3rd. After defeating Rhode in their first game the girls were expecting a tough battle from this improving Naomh Ciaran team but in the end the Edenderry ladies ran out easy and convincing winners. Edenderry were out of the blocks early and by half time had built up a healthy lead of 2-6 to 2 points with goals from Shauna Ward and Roisin Hurley. Naomh Ciaran upped their game early in the second half scoring 1-1 without replay but Edenderry found another gear for the rest of the game and two further goals from Roisin and one from Shauna left the final score at an impressive 5-11 to 1-5. This was a tremendous all round performance by each and every player used and augurs well for the year ahead with the team going for the championship 3 in a row having won it for the last years. Our 2 substitutes Sarah and Sarah even joined in on the scoring which meant that all the starting forwards aswell as both subs contributed to the scoring in what was a great team performance. The player of the match award had a clear winner with Roisin Hurley having the game of her life contributing 3-3 aswell as covering every blade of grass on the pitch, well done Roisin.. The win was even more impressive considering the team was missing a number of players including 2 of our county girls Shauna Farrelly and Rebecca Gorman. Well done to the girls and the management team and thank you to all the parents and supporters who travelled to support the girls. Team was as follows: Isobel Leddin, Emma Brady, Danielle Kavanagh, Orla Whelan, Nicole Farrelly, Abbey Yusef, Ciara Brady, Ciara O’Connnor, Niamh O’Connor, Jade Oglesby, Megan Moore, Claire Connolly, Hazel O’Brien, Shauna Ward, Roisin Hurley.
