JFC Quarter final:
Edenderry 1-5 4-15 Kilcormac
There were few if any complaints when the final whistle went in Geashill last Thursday night as Edenderry juniors crashed out of the championship at the quarter final stage.
The game was effectively over just thirteen minutes into the first half as Kilcormac held a 1-7 to 0-0 lead. Peter O'Neill registered Edenderry's first score in the fifteenth minute but it was cancelled out just three minutes later as Kilcormac restored their ten point lead.
Points from Cillian Farrell and a Daniel Ryan free either side of a Kilcormac point had nine between the sides with three minutes to half time but a rare well worked move and a quick slip pass from Cormac Hurley put Cian Lawton through on goal and he made no mistake with the finish. Kilcormac off the scoring with points in the thirtieth and thirty second minute.
Half Time:
Edenderry 1-3 1-11 Kilcormac
It was more of the same in the second half for the reds and with just six minutes on the clock Kilcormac had racked up another 1-1. A Philip Farrell pointed free in the eight minute put eleven between the sides but in the next eleven minutes Kilcormac scored 2-1. Edenderry eventually registered another score in the twenty second minute from wing back Gary Blong but it was Edenderry's final score of the game while Kilcormac managed a further two more.
Full Time:
Edenderry 1-5 4-15 Kilcormac
This was a complete mismatch from start to finish and Kilcormac were worthy of their nineteen point win. The young reds visibly unable to match the physical strength of their opponents and were simply aside.
The introduction of minor footballers Matthew O'Grady and Ross Mangan added enthusiasm and a bit of steal that was lacking as they fought hard for possession. but the game belonged to the men in green and yellow.
