Junior league:
Edenderry 1-8 1-12 Tullamore........
Edenderry juniors were beaten by four points on Sunday afternoon in the second round of the division three league. Despite a great start to the game, a poor second half performance allowed Tullamore to secure the two points.
Pat Moloney opened the scoring after three minutes after David Farrelly sent in a long ball which was won by Daniel Ryan who laid it off to Pat who sent it over the bar. Tullamore replied instantly with a pointed free but two minutes later Mark Hoey put the reds back in front. Edenderry dominated the next fifteen minutes and points from Sean Og Farrell, Pat Moloney and John Gorman(3) gave the home side a six point lead. In the twenty first minute Tullamore reduced the deficit to three points when they scored a goal. Goalkeeper Ciaran Cummins made a great save but could do nothing about the rebounded effort. Tullamore added a further two points in the twenty sixth and twenty eight minute to leave the minimum between the sides at half time.
Half time:
Edenderry 0-7 1-3 Tullamore
Edenderry introduced Martin Keogh and Michael Bryan at half time in place of Adrian Farrell and Daniel Ryan but it was the blues who started the stronger scoring two points and taking the lead in the opening five minutes. John Gorman pointed from a free after a foul on Michael Bryan in the seventh minute but again Tullamore hit back with two points and regained the lead. With thirteen minutes gone in the second half Edenderry were threw a huge lifeline when Dean Cummins shot was saved, John Gorman coolly slotted the ball to the back of the net. However Edenderry failed to kick on from here and Tullamore took full advantage kicking five points in the remaining twelve minutes for a deserved four point win.
