Edenderry had a one point victory over Gracefield in an exciting encounter played in great conditions in Clonbullogue on Friday evening. Gracefield started well and were twice two points ahead within the first ten minutes.Then Edenderry kicked six points without reply and went in at half time leading by 0 -9 to 0-5 mainly due to three points each from play by Ciaran Hurley and Sean Doyle. Gracefield cut the deficit to two before Aaron McDonnell scored a great goal followed quickly by a point from Oran Lawton. With twenty minutes remaining Dan Nolan was dismissed for a black card offence having earlier gotten yellow. Edenderry then had their worst period of the game conceding 2-2 and losing Sean Pender to injury. It was then that the reds showed character and fighting spirit with two Doyle points bringing the sides level and then went one behind with only a few minutes remaining.Sean Doyle showed calmness by leveling with a minute left and then Jordan Hayes sealed the issue for Edenderry with a wonderful point.
