JHC Quarter final:
Edenderry 2-11 2-9 Kinnitty
Edenderry junior hurlers are through to the semi final of the championship after a brilliant two point win over Kinnitty on Saturday afternoon in Killeigh.
This was an end to end game with both sides enjoying their spell of dominance but it was a goal one minute from time from player/manager Seán Óg Farrell that sent the reds through to the Junior hurling semi final in three weeks time.
Kinnitty drew first blood with a point in the opening minute but it was stalwart Cillian Farrell who leveled after two minutes. Cillian then put the reds ahead in the third minute when he pointed a free. Kinnitty hit back almost immediately with two points in the fourth minute and doubled their lead in the seventh minute.
Spectators were been treated to some great action and points from half forward Martin Keogh in the eight and twelfth minute leveled the game once more. The men in green slotted over the following three points in this humdinger of a clash but a point from Jason Carey in the nineteenth minute left two between the sides.
Edenderry dominated the next ten minutes and it was important to turn the possession into scores as they were playing with the wind. Points from Cillian Farrell, Ger Hanlon and Seán Óg Farrell gave Edenderry a one point lead with twenty seven minutes gone but one minute later Paul Glennon kicked the slíotar to the back of the net and Edendery held a four point lead. Cillian Farrell pointed in the twenty ninth minute to leave the reds five clear at the interval.
Half Time:
Edenderry 1-9 0-7 Kinnitty..
It was once again Cillian Farrell who opened the reds scoring after three minutes but this would be Edenderry's last score until the twenty fifth minute. The conceded 1-2 in the mean time and the game was very much in the balance. Disaster struck in the twenty eight minute when Edenderry failed to clear their lines and Kinnitty shot the slíotar into the empty net.
In the twenty ninth minute a Shane Connell effort was slapped down by the goalkeeper when it was sailing over the cross bar but the goalie slapped it down to the oncoming Sean Og Farrell who rammed the ball the slíotar to the back of the net to give Edenderry the win.
