Edenderry........3-21
Rhode..............1-8
Edenderry Senior ladies pulled off the near impossible last night. Edenderry needed to score more than 22 scores against Rhode to qualify for the Senior League final. The first half was a cagey affair, Rhode were defending well, however goals from Riona Byrne and Rebecca Mcdonnell had Edenderry leading by 2-07 to 5 points. The second half took on a life of its own with Edenderry going for all out attack to get over the magic 22 scores needed. Molly Furey hit the back of the net with a well taken goal and the points just rained in after that. Angela Brady was firing on all cylinders ably assisted by her cousin Ciara, Rebecca McDonnell and Elisha Hunston. Excellent direct strong running by Emer Lawless was causing havoc in the Rhode defence. Edenderry's defence were excellent all through the match as they held Rhode to an overall score of 1-08. Our goalie on the night Tara Dunne was excellent all through and showed no nerves on her debut. Sarah Cummins and Nicole Farrelly kept the forwards supplied with plenty of quality ball. When fresh legs were required the bench had plenty of quality on it, this helped keep the intensity of the game up so Edenderry could get over the magic 22 scores. The final score was Edenderry 3-21, Rhode 1-08.
Every supporter at the game must have been well impressed by the performance and determination of this panel of players and congratulations must go to them. Credit too to the Management team for their belief and motivation they showed in achieving this victory.
This was the first time the Senior ladies wore their new senior jerseys.
