Edenderry GAA Golf Society Update
The Edenderry GAA Golf Society (Captain Niall Comerford) held their first outing of 2012 in the challenging New Forrest Golf course in Tyrrellspass on Saturday last May 5th. Having being established in 2002 the society are celebrating their tenth anniversary this year and still going strong. The regulars again turned out in force and were joined by a few youthful new members who brought a new competitive edge to proceedings. The course was playing very long and with the wind also a factor it was going to be difficult to return high scores. However our youngest player on the day Ciaran ‘Gazza’ Farrell managed to burn it up and took first prize with a sizzling 40 points. Ciaran was followed by our other minor player on the day Jamie Dolan who returned a great score of 35 points. Class A prize was taken by our current senior football manager and club legend Peter Brady, Class B was won by Charlie Quinn and Class C by Seanie Farrell. The front nine prize was won by Declan Farrell meaning all 3 of the Farrell family were in the prizes while the back nine was taken by Ken Corcoran. Our spot prize winner was Bill Corcoran who won the club umbrella prize in the open draw and despite some calls for a stewards enquiry the result stood.
The full results were:
First: Ciaran Farrell 40 points. Second: Jamie Dolan 35 points
Class A: Peter Brady 34 points Class B: Charlie Quinn 30 points Class C: Seanie Farrell 33 points
Front Nine: Declan Farrell 18 points Back Nine: Ken Corcoran 17 points
The presentation was followed by the post mortems and playbacks until well into the early hours and a great day was had by all who attended. We would like to thank all the players for making the trip as despite the long weekend and other distractions we had a very encouraging turnout. The society would also like to say a huge thanks to our sponsor on the day Greg Farrelly, of GF Flooring, Tiling and Bathroom Centre, thanks Greg. Thanks is also extended to our club PRO David Farrell who was responsible for the wonderful action photos which were snapped during the day
Our next outing is one for the early birds and will be in the beautiful Heritage Golf Club on Saturday July 14th, make sure to add to your diary.
