Edenderry's Kym Furey was named at full forward on the National league All-Star team this year in recognition of her performances with the Offaly senior ladies and she is the second Edenderry footballer to receive this prestigious award after Christine McDonnell achieved it in 2011.
Kym also captained the Edenderry minor ladies in 2012 when they were beaten by St Rynagh's in the county final.

Student
Notable sporting achievements?
The ones that stand out for me are winning the Leinster club championship with Edenderry in 2010 and winning the junior A school All-Ireland in 2007 and of course been named on the All-star team of the league.
Toughest opponent?
From inside the county would have to be Emma Dalton and outside the county would be the corner back for Louth Aine Mcgee.
Favourite ground?
O' Connor Park the very odd time we get to play there, or Edenderry as its the home grounds.
Favourite position?
Full forward
Hobbies?
I don't really have any hobbies apart from football. I enjoy a bit of cycling and socialising with friends.
Influences on your career?
My family have been a huge influence as they've always been the ones to encourage me to play and to keep at it.
The high point of your career to Date?
Reaching the All-Ireland semi final with Offaly this year.
Biggest disappointment?
Losing the All- Ireland semi final to Louth or loosing the club All-Ireland semi final back in 2010.
Players with a promising future?
There are so many young girls that played a huge part in our senior team this year which always looks promising. The few that stand out for me from seeing them play would have to be Ciara O' Connor, Roisin Hurley and Nicole Farrelly.
Ways of improving the game?
Allowing more contact.
Dislikes about the GAA?
The fact that ladies football doesn't get enough recognition as it should.
Do you have any relatives involved in Gaelic games?
A lot of my relatives are involved in GAA in some way, brothers, sister, aunts, uncles. One of my cousins was part of the Dublin team a few years ago Ray Cosgrove and another part of the Galway team Ger McManus.

It was a great honour as it made me realise all the hard work I put in my career was paying off.

Hopefully make it to college and do a degree in physiotherapy and have won an All- Ireland or two.
