Next Saturday 9th Feb night promises to be a special one in the history of both Edenderry GAA and Derry Rovers FC as the clubs launch their joint fundraising event "Easter Rising" in Byrnes, Edenderry at 9.30pm.
Both clubs have selected players to represent their club in the White Collar Boxing event to be staged in Edenderry GAA on Easter Saturday 30th March. The players selected will be unveiled to the audience on next Saturday night.
Eamon Horan of RTE Sport will be our MC for the launch and no doubt the Ballycumber man will chat to a few of the boxers to find out what we can expect when they step into the ring on March 30th.
Edenderry GAA are also using the event to announce their 2012 Adult Football & Hurling Award winners, who will receive their awards on the night. Music will also be provided on the night by well known local musician Shane Hynes.
The players have been in training for the past two weeks and are eager to put on a show on March 30th however we can expect the usual pre-fight shenanigans when the boxers from Derry Rovers FC and Edenderry GAA come face to face next Saturday night at the launch. Who knows Eamon may even have to break up a scuffle!
Boxers from both clubs are currently looking for sponsorship in an effort to raise funds for their respective clubs. Both Derry Rovers FC and Edenderry GAA are very grateful to everyone who has sponsored the boxers already.
Tickets prices at €15 for the "Easter Rising" will be on sale on Sat night in Byrnes and full details will be published in the coming weeks of where and when tickets can be purchased in the run up to the event.
