CLUB SUPERSTARS
Edenderry GAA, Edenderry Town FC, Edenderry RFC, Derry Rovers & Ballyfore GFC will go HEAD to HEAD at Edenderry GAA grounds in the Club Superstars Competition this Saturday August 10th from 5pm.
In a throw back to the 1980's this event will see the Clubs of the Parish GAA, Soccer & Rugby will compete to see who has the fittest group of players in the Town. Selected players from each Club will compete against each other in a number of disciplines to determine the overall winning Club. Each Club will put forward 4 representatives; each one will represent their club in their chosen discipline. The players will go head to head in the 100m Dash, Chin-Up Competition, Bench Press Competition & the 1500m Run. The Finale will include a Relay involving all players from all Clubs.
Local Garda Niall O'Leary will act as Independent Adjudicator (and Peacemaker) among the participants. The temperature has been raised already with Pat McBride of Derry Rovers quoted as saying "we beat the GAA at boxing a few months back and now we will beat the rest" . Honour is a stake for all Clubs and this event is sure to draw a big crowd. Willie Forde of Edenderry GAA expects a very high standard of participant from all clubs but is confident a team of footballers and a team of Hurlers from Edenderry have the necessary talents to blow all opposition out of the water adding that "The lads from the other clubs can drink from the cup when we win it!"
The action commences at 5pm sharp and concludes at 7.30pm. This promises to be an exciting event and not to be missed by sports loving people in the town.
