St Patrick's 2-9 Clara 1-12 (AET)
The U21 semi final ended in a stalemate after extra time and a replay will take place on Sunday morning at Noon in Cappincur with the winner taking on St Michael's on Saturday November 16th.
Played in horrendous conditions but both sides managed to serve up a tough encounter that provided a good afternoon’s entertainment. A full match report is available elsewhere in the paper.
The game ebbed and flowed and both sides had periods of dominance which if fully capitalised upon the contest could have been decided on the day. The Reds had a few hero’s on the day that battled very hard right until the end of extra time.
Cormac Hurley played very well in goals and his kick-outs we excellent throughout. The Lawtons battled extremely hard all day and the underfoot conditions were not favourable to tall men but the lads never gave up. As with last week Jamie Dolan and Ciaran Farrell pulled the strings out around the half forward line and popped up with some great scores all day. The full forward line worked hard but didn’t get the return on the scoreboard. However, on the day, one of the youngest men on the pitch for Edenderry should some great heart and was example to every player. Mark Abbott busted his gut for the jersey and continued to take the right option all day long.
The Reds have a great chance in the replay however, they can’t afford to be as wasteful in front of goal if they are to make it to the final.
