Edenderry footballer Adam 'Gerald' Mahon (22) has announced his retirement from GAA with immediate effect following his sensational win at the 'Oscarz' in the Johnstown House Estate hotel on Sunday night.
Mahon was part of the cast for the 'Full Monty' which won the award for 'Best Film' on the night and speaking to the Edenderry GAA website after the ceremony Mahon declared he was done with football.
"I've always known I'm a big deal but tonight's award just goes to prove it. I'm so happy to have won. Obviously the other members of the cast played a minor role but everyone agreed it was my performance which got us over the line" Mr Mahon continued.
Mr Mahon, a student at Maynooth University, is set to leave Edenderry for the bright lights of Hollywood and reports suggest he may have already secured some big roles in some major motion pictures.
Mr Mahon's agent Colm Byrne confirmed that directors from Hollywood had contacted him on Monday morning to see if he would be available.
"We've had some solid offers. Old School 2, Daddy's Home 3, Taken 4 and Saw 9 but so far the '50 Shades' franchise have offered the most Dollars... Whoever gives me the biggest cut, that's the one we'll commit too" said the former senior football captain turned agent to the stars.
The news will be a huge blow to the Edenderry senior footballers for 2019 but most of Adam's teammates wished him well.
