Weavers Fields Planning Drawing
The only element outstanding is the fantastically designed dressing rooms, however we have a temporary solution in place until the funding is in place for their progression. The layout of the temporary facilities is such that they will not interfere with future construction, ensuring a seamless transition.
One of the final elements erected was our fabulous Donor Wall, to recognise the outstanding generosity of our local community, it will stand as a reminder of the vision and ambition of the membership from this era.
With the continued commitment of our Club 300 Members, energies will now focus on the next phase of our masterplan and we aim to deliver our new 4,000 sqm. All-weather pitch in the next 18 months.
The Day has finally arrived and we Officially Open our new fantastic facility!!!
A search to find additional lands for development of additional playing pitches, that commenced in 2006 has brought our club to this historic day. Some false starts and numerous options exhausted in the intervening period, all contributed to a learning experience that allowed us to progress our preferred option, here at Rosderra Weavers Fields.
Fortuitously for our club, many talented individuals gave freely of their time in recent years, to ensure the delivery of the fantastic facility we Officially Open today. The process was often complex in nature and the club owes a significant debt of gratitude to individuals involved. Moreover, generations of incremental enhancement by the great Gaels that preceded us - keeping the torch lit and passing it on, never dimmed - their combined efforts generated the demand for these additional fields.
Buoyed by 2011 Co. Final win a speculative phone call to the former owners in November of that year opened a prolonged period of discussions that resulted in contracts being signed for our new site at Weavers Fields on 6th October 2014, by the then Club Trustees, Seán Foran (RIP), Pat Nolan & Frank Farrelly.
Soon afterwards the club commenced an inclusive consultation process with the membership and wider community to plan for the development of the lands. The appointment of Cummins + Voortman Architects and Masterplanners proved to be a wise choice and the ‘hands-on’ involvement of Bernard Voortman, a Belgian native, ensured a well-considered design flavoured with a continental influence.
Following successful navigation of the planning process, construction commenced in July of 2016. With the input of expert advice from Richard Hayden of Hayden Turfcare and the commitment of Pitch Contractor John Foran of Emerald Pitch Developments, the first element delivered was the two full sized playing pitches. Immediately afterwards we set about implementing the site layout designed by Bernard Voortman and Pat McBride of PMB Construction was appointed to carry out the ground works.
