2013 AGM Report
A modest attendance at this years AGM were run through a successful year of GAA activities in 2013. No contentious issues arose and largely the meeting was report where the club stands in 2013 and plans for the future were discussed.
Following the adoption of standing orders the minutes from the 2012 meeting were read and adopted. Secretary Seanie Farrell then presented a very comprehensive report on the activities of the club in 2013. This was followed by a report on the financial position of the club which we are happy to say we are in good order as a result of very good management. The highlight was that following all over our developments in recent years the club is debt free.
The sub-committee reports followed from;
Willie Forde - Bord na nÓg
Facilities - Colm Cummins
Coaching & Games - Colm Cummins
Ladies - Fiona Brady
PR& Communications - Colm Cummins
Membership - Alan Ennis
The main topic with the sub-committee reports was the unsuccessful bid for 18 acres of land in Clonmullen during the summer. The sequence of events was outlined by the Chairman and it was explained that other options are being considered. The benefit of going so close is that all of the necessary approvals for purchase are in place as is the finance and once another option arises we are well positioned to move quickly. It was also announced that the club will apply for planning permission for an astro turf facility early in the new year. However it was made abundantly clear to the membership that they will need to contribute significantly to the project to get it over the line.
The Chairman's address followed and Colm Cummins highlighted the progress made by the Club over the past ten years and that the work must continue in that vein. Although no major silverware visited the club in 2013 Colm is confident that the work being done at all levels of the club will pay off and success on the field will come. He called for more pride to be shown by supporters and to focus on the positive elements of the club and team performance, mentioning that sometimes we are too critical of ourselves and should seek to learn from our mistakes in a positive manner.
The Election of Officers followed and firstly Colm Cummins announced that the Club Executive were proposing that Pat Nolan would be elected an Honorary Life President of the Club and join Eddie Kenny at the top of the Club. This was ratified by the members and Pat will be formally recognised early in the new year at the Club awards. Pat spoke briefly about the pride he felt in being recognised and he was delighted and honoured to hold such a role.
There was no contest for any role on the Executive and the following were elected:
Chairman - Colm Cummins
Vice-Chairman - Willie Forde
Secretary - Seanie Farrell
Asst. Secretary - Mag Kenny
Treasurer - Ellie Mooney
Asst. Treasurer - Seanie Farrell
P.R.O. - Tom Lawton
Registrar - Alan Ennis
Player Rep - Sean Pender
Youth Rep - Ciaran Farrell
Health & Safety Officer - Aidan Burke
At their first meeting following the AGM the club will appoint the Chairs of the various sub-committees, the Child Welfare Officers and ASAP Officer.
There were no motions brought forward in 2013 and the membership rate for 2014 were ratified. The Club will be out in force between now and Christmas seeking memberships fees and also seeking to get lapsed members to join.
Some minor issues were discussed under AOB and the meeting was closed by Eddie Kenny with a prayer for departed members.
