Naomh Molaise…0-11

Edenderry minor ladies kicked off their Championship campaign with an impressive 4-18 to 0-11 win

over a very competitive Naomh Molaise team in Rosderra Gaelic Park Wednesday night. Edenderry had a very

bright start and raced into a 1-6 to 0-1 lead after 10 minutes thanks to a goal from Maria Doyle and

some Lovely points from Ava Robinson and Chloe Monaghan, who were causing Naomh Molaise all

sorts of problems. Edenderry defended with determination and managed to keep the Naomh

Molaise girls quiet for the majority of the game. Kiah Farrelly and Alicia Kavanagh were very strong

at centre back and full back respectively. Sarah Lynch did a sterling job man marking Naomh

molaises most dangerous forward, keeping her to a single point in the first half. Edenderry have a

number of u16 girls on this team and Katie Dunne along with Aoife Shakespeare showed they are

more than ready to perform at a higher level. Edenderry led by 2-11 to 0-04 at half time.

Edenderry started the second half much the same dominance with good scores from Molly Furey

and Kellie Ogelsby. The midfield of Tara Dunne and Amy Dunne were completely on top. Edenderry

half back of Aoife Tyrrell proved a constant thorn with her strong runs from defence. Quality ball

into the full forward line was rewarded with 7 pts from Chloe Monaghan, 2-7 from Maria Doyle and

1-2 from Ava Robinson. This was a strong performance from the girls in red and with 7 girls from the

u16s getting game time, the future looks bright for Edenderry ladies. The game was played in a very

sporting manner against a very competitive Naomh Molaise team and well martialled by referee

Martin Carty.
