Basil Malone: What they said

Following the recent announcement that legendary centre forward Basil Malone had called time on his playing career, tributes poured in from for teammates and supporters to honour one of Edenderry's favourite sons. Here are some of the following comments.

Micil Glennon : "Best of luck, Basil. Great to go out on such a high"!

Shane Connell : "The quietest man I've ever stood with on a football pitch... But by Jaysus he didn't half let his football do the talking! Pure brilliance, best of luck Baz"!

Seanie Farrell : "Best of Luck Baz with the new career its been a pleasure to see you play for the Reds".

John Farrell : "A legend in every sense! Best of luck bud".

Kevin Farrell Jnr : "Apart from being one of greatest ever players he most certainly is the greatest gentleman to ever wear the red. All the best Basil you well deserve a break".

Peter Brady : To play with you was a pleasure. To manage you was even better you are what Gaa is all about. Skill, guts, fitness, determination, a will to win and most of all an unbelievable pride for the red jersey. I won't say best of luck baz you never needed luck. I will say thanks".
